What a weekend in the Welsch hills ????♂️ Redbull Hardline is like the Olympics of downhill mountain biking, and this year was the 10th anniversary – so you know they had to make it extra insane! Dan Atherton and the crew at Dyfi Bike Park went all out to create a course that would leave riders’ jaws on the floor.
Now, picture this: a course so gnarly that only the best of the best get invited. Yep, Hardline is like the VIP party of downhill racing, and this year, they handpicked 26 riders to tackle the madness.
One of those lucky riders was none other than Matt Jones, fresh off his epic adventures in Tasmania. And guess what? Marin hooked him up with a top-secret prototype DH frame just for this event! Talk about exclusive gear, right? Plus, with Gravitas wheels built to handle the roughest terrain, Matt was geared up and ready to go.
After two days of intense practice runs, Matt was feeling confident. With tips from pros and coaching from his brother, he tackled the course like a boss and qualified 25th for the finals. Talk about nerves of steel!
But race day brought some unexpected challenges. With windy conditions swirling around, the pressure was on. Adam Brayton set the bar high with a lightning-fast run, and Matt was up next. Everything was going smoothly until disaster struck – a puncture derailed his run, ending his dream of conquering the entire course.
But hey, Matt’s not one to let a setback keep him down. He’s already itching to come back for more in 2025. And if you were paying attention, you might’ve noticed him rolling on a special new wheelset – hinting at even bigger things to come.
So, buckle up, folks! The thrill of DH racing isn’t over for Matt Jones, and who knows what surprises the next Hardline will bring? Stay tuned for the epic saga to continue! ????
